how many have seen a goshawk?

hi every1 just wondering how many of you have actuly seen a goshawk as i live in staffordshire and it is now the only b.o.p that i havnt seen despite about 2 years of looking for 1 lol. i know they are meant to be on the increase but i just cant seem to spot 1 anywhere. so i was seeing how many others have been fortunate to see 1?

I have seen a few in my area, but just fleeting glimpses. Just an hour ago a work mate showed me a photograph of a bird that he wanted me to identify that he took at the weekend. He was out in the Galloway hills on his motorbike and nature called so he had to rush to the trees. When he returned a bird of prey was perched on his motorbike seat with a kill. It was a Goshawk, I have just seen the picture and its incredible. Ill try get a copy from him and post it on here.

does anybody have a poppulation number? ive heard there are now loads of them? maybe it just shows how good a hunter they are that they are rarely seen.

Saw my 1st last friday on a walk in the Upper Derwent Valley area , Peak District , my brother does this walk on average once or twice a week and said me might see a Sparrowhawk or Goshawk and we saw both plus Ousels/Dippers.

Only figure I can find is 400-450 pairs and increasing.

I've seen a few over the years in UK + overseas.

Mayday Farm, well known site in Norfolk, has been my most reliable site, but haven't visited for a few years now.

The only ones i Have seen have been in conifer forests although any fairly dense woodland should be a prime location.It is a large size hawk, not far off the size of a buzzard but a damn sight quicker !
