I saw one a couple of year ago over Little Wittenham nature reserve in Oxfordshire. Must admit had it not been for its call I wouldn't have even noticed it!

My colleague was driving along a quiet country lane about a mile from me last year when he slowed to pass a couple of gents walking in the road. As he passed he noticed one of the men had a large BoP on his arm, so he stopped the truck to have a chat. It transpires that the guy breeds goshawks, for what reason I know not. After a brief chat (he was blocking the lane with his motor) my pal took a photo with his phone and bade them a fond farewell! I am sure I have seen the odd sighting, but it usually a fleeting glance and gone before I have had chance to think about it!

The best views I've ever had were at a site in Derbyshire. Funnily enough lewiso, I was working in Staffordshire at the time, but never saw one there. I had gone over to Derbyshire for a course on this particular occasion. |

Seen a few, but not often. Wykeham Forest in N Yorks is pretty good. Also a few times from Welbeck raptor watchpoint near Clumber in Notts.
BTO says 400 pairs estimated in 1995. I imagine that is alot higher now. Supposedly they were re-introduced to the UK. Anyone know if there were there were actually any official releases, or were they all "private reintroductions" (presumably from legal captive bred birds)? |

Good numbers of them in Kielder- usually reliable to get decent views late Feb till mid March- get one in my garden occassionally trying to take doves! |

Seen them regularly in local upland woodland when used to go walking a lot few years ago. Been reliably informed they are still breeding well locally.
