Ours feed on the seed and suet cake feeders almost exclusively. I think they have learnt that this is safer than on the ground, in the garden where the feeder is located (because of predation I think).

I can't get them to feed on the feeder that is located in the relative safety of my wildlife area.

They were rare in this area, and feeding is helping, I think.

I supposeit depends what food is on offer, here they hunt around the shrubs and along walls for insects (Oh and the Fatsia which is always a favourite) they are actually topping up on the feeders under our porch before bed
