| | | Found baby bird, help please? I apologise upfront if this is in the wrong section, but it is kind of an emergency. My brother was walking down the street and found a baby bird, not very old at all, here is a picture.
Not really sure what it is and what to do to help it? We searched the area and couldn't find the nest. All the local wildlife centres are closed.
All help appreciated, and suggestions if we need to keep it overnight until we ring the local rescue centre again tomorrow.
Thanks,
Jamie. |

| | | Re: Found baby bird, help please? Hi. It's a baby pigeon. Best to keep it warm overnight & get it to your nearest rescue centre in the morning. If you let me know where you are I will try to find a centre near to you. As long as it isn't injured it is best not to tr to give it food or water as they are not the easiest of birds to rear at that age.

| | | Re: Found baby bird, help please? Thanks for the fast reply. We live near Tamworth, Warwickshire. I've looked on the net and as far as I'm aware of, the closest is Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. We rang them and it is closed.
Thanks,
Jamie |

Thanks,
Jamie | I don't think the Wildlife Trusts deal with orphaned/injured wildlife at all. There is a wildlife centre in Nuneaton, I will try to get the number for you but I am not at the Hospital at the moment so might not be able to get it till tomorrow.
We are not a million miles from you if you want to bring it to us. You could bring it tonight if you can get to us.

| | | Re: Found baby bird, help please? Really, it would have been best left alone so the parents could find it but i do understand why people pick them up for a whole lot of great reasons.People often think a bird has been abandoned when it isn't.
Sadly, they are fed in a different way to other youngsters, so very difficult.
They would normally go without food overnight but so important to do something very quickly.
All i can say is good luck. |

All i can say is good luck. | A pigeon at that young age would not have survived if left - it must have fallen or been blown out of the nest.
This one had to be picked up to save its life.
