Had a pleasant couple of hours fishing this evening, got lots of rises to my fly and missed every one. Was too busy watching a pair of dippers playing over the water. More than once a chase ended with one of them actually flying into the water (not diving) where the water was about 2 feet deep and flowing pretty fast. I have never seen this before though I have often seen them walking in and out of the water. I have been watching dippers nesting under that mill goit for nearly 50 years. I don't think the current pair can be quite so old.
