| | | House Sparrows Our poor old Passer Domesticus may be declining rapidly but my local RSPCA centre still has a healthy population, I managed to get a few pics despite the odd looks from visitors and staff at me pointing my camera at bushes
They are quite a rare commodity in Hertfordshire so pleased to see so many in one place, about 20+. |

| | | Re: House Sparrows A super photo of a super bird, Robin! The House Sparrow is a bird I rarely see in my garden now!
Thanks for reminding me of what one looks like! Sad to think how they have declined in certain areas but good to see some areas still have a healthy population! |

| | | Re: House Sparrows I've noticed that the last day or so they are starting to use the feeders again so I'm presuming they need more food now, good to see them back though |

| | | Re: House Sparrows Sparrows really do need live food in the Spring/Summer.
Recent studies have blamed the availably of natural live food a major reason for the decline in house sparrow numbers.
If you have sparrows in your area please consider putting out mealworms in a suitable feeder. |

| | | Re: House Sparrows There was a programme on Radio 4 recently that suggested that putting out live food was definitely helpful.
However less adults are surviving the Winters than expected. And I think the reasons for this are still unclear.
