Excuse my continued colossal ignorance, but is this bird just a pheasant? It looks different to any I've seen before, male, female or young.

It's one of the more exotic ones, certainly not Pheasanius colchicus!
Someone with more knowledge of the posh ones will be along shortly I expect!

We had a pheasant in the field next door that had a full head of white feathers..more than our usual visitors!It seemed a bigger bird altogether!?
