My nearest WWT sites are Slimbridge and obviously the one in Wales, near Swansea. I too think the world of them, they're such a great place to view all kinds of plants & wildlife. Wooo, just got promoted to Officer of the Wild Empire, go me | Pity with the Wryneck..better luck next time, Jen!
I am referring to Wildlife Trusts. I am a Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Wildfowl Trust member and think they both do a sterling job at their reserves, oh and the RSPB of which I am also a member of! In fact they are all brill....there, all done in a nutshell!
I went to the Llanelli reserve last July and thought it was a super place. I would imagine it will be looking very pretty with all the Spring flowers that are now opening too, as they are everywhere of course! I would certainly visit the Llanelli reserve again!
Congratulations on your promotion! 3 cheers for, Jen! |

| | | Re: An early morning reserve visit! The Avocets aren't a secret here on the reserve here in Worcester there are 9 back now but to be honest after the initial delight of having them when they first came now they can be a bit of a pain as they tend to be quite agressive and chase off other species during the breeding season.
I just hope the Little Ringed Plover manage to sucessfully raise some young this year as I think every single one died last year, we had the misfortune to watch one drown from the hide. |

| | | Re: An early morning reserve visit! Hi Chas,
The reserve you speak of is the same one that I visit! With nesting birds I feel we have to be sensitive with information given sometimes, hence my apprehension. I also hope the Little Ringed Plover are more successful this year! I believe there were 5 chicks last year that were sadly short lived, 3 on the Flashes and 2 on the Moors. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
