| | | Red Kite Saw a Red Kite just next to RAF Henlow (South Herts) on Wednesday...don't know if that is unusual for the area or not, but I thought I would share it with you anyway! (Also saw a buzzard and a kestrel...hat trick!)

| | | Re: Red Kite Nice finds Andy. We have Buzzards and Kestrels galore up her but very few Red Kites, although I did see one pair last year. Hopefully more this year as they are such beautiful birds.

| | | Re: Red Kite Red Kites are certainly spreading out from their release sites in the Chilterns, Andy, so I guess it's not too unusual to see one in that area. I've seen them a few miles south of there (at Pegsdon, near Hitchin).
I think RAF Henlow is just in Beds, rather than Herts. |

| | | Re: Red Kite Kites are only occasionally spotted at my local RSPB reserve, so I envy you for spotting one Andy. Like Ron we have buzzards all over the place, especially around Kinross, I love them, although the Jackdaws are far less keen and mob them, especially when they have young to protect. Kestrels are fairly common too. It's always a pleasure to spot any bird of prey
