| | | Re: Confirm ID please Song Thrush for me too, Old Soldier. It is hard to judge the size sometimes unless you have the 2 birds or 3 birds (Song & Mistle Thrush and Blackbird) in view together! Well done with the pics and I am sure it must have been lovely hearing the Song Thrush singing away! |

Hi Old Soldier, have a listen to the songs on the links and see if that will be helpful to you in distinguishing Song and Mistle Thrushes singing.
I reckon yours is also a Song Thrush, Robin! The RSPB: Song thrush The RSPB: Mistle thrush |

Fairly sure it is Song Thrush. | I'm not getting total clarity when I listen to this recording, but I am not hearing the short repetitive phrases of a typical Song Thrush. It sounds like a Mistle Thrush to me, with it loud, wild and flute-like song. Perhaps I am just struggling with the recording, but the two species have very different songs that are easily learned and easy to tell apart in the field.

| | | Re: Confirm ID please I reckon you are right, Chris! I must admit to not getting total clarity myself but I felt I heard some repetitive phrases, hence my opting for Song Thrush! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
