I reckon you do have more chance spotting birds early in the morning. This is certainly the case in my experience.

Definetely worth getting up early, that is the time of day when birds are most active (along with just before dusk). They need to feed up after roosting as small species can lose quite a bit of weight overnight.
Just a note about Dunnocks, they are not actually in the Sparrow family, Passeridae, as in House Sparrows and Tree Sparrows etc. They belong to the Accentor family, (Prunellidae). It is the only British representative of the Accentors, but there are other species in Europe and Asia. |

Okay i am convinced! Will give it a go one day next week, suppose i can always catch up my sleep during the day  , not going to do 5a.m though, would be too much of a shock to my system!!
