(Down South that is!). Hopefully it will get busy once youngsters have hatched, garden usually picks up again then. |

| | | Re: Green finches have arrived. Until now I never thought about Greenfinches moving around but I suspose here in the 'deep south' I do get a few more during the winter. They certainly love their peanuts and are by far the commonest birds on my hanging feeders.
I don't get Goldfinches in my garden but 6 miles further inland my mother finds them to be very numerous in her garden all the year round. There were quite a few in the fields by the cliff path a couple of weeks ago.
Great Tits first appeared in my garden about 4 years ago but have thrived eversince. I also get the odd Blackcap overwintering here but they seem to have moved away now. Saw a Wren for a few days this winter; the first one for many years. |

As Ruth has mentioned it is good to see the Greenfinches looking so healthy! I have a pair that have returned though they do not frequent the garden enough, they also look very healthy! Great to see! |

?, why are most of the finches facing west when feeding, i have my own theory, i think they do it because the sun was in the west when i took the pics and any predator would come out of the sun to provide some cover , so what do you think.
