| | | 1st Cetti's of the year Out on the reserve today, we heard our first Cetti's Warbler of the year. Such an unmistakeable call, so penetrating and defined. We saw movement in the hawthorns but it was deeply hidden amongst the twigs and branches.
We also heard Chiffchaff and the beautiful piping call of lapwings. Just grand.

| | | Re: 1st Cetti's of the year We're pretty lucky here in this part of wales as we've got these birds year-round. I love hearing their boisterous song - even if I can almost NEVER spot them. My goal is go get a better shot of this bird this year.
Great to hear they're starting to return to other parts of the UK |

Great to hear they're starting to return to other parts of the UK | On Suffolk coast we too get them all winter, but it has been the quietest winter since I started being a regular at Minsmere; I too would love a good photo!! |

Good to hear there are some about. | Perhaps the ones that over-winter here are the hardened ones from a good strong gene pool. Perhaps also they are adapting in some way that enables them to survive - i.e what they are feeding on and roosting?
