| | | choughed Hi guys
Long time no post, but , I am back to the world of WAB. Frog spawn is doing really well, soooo much of it I think algae won't be a problem in the pond this year.
I've been off work and so out keeping busy and was rewarded a few days ago with 3 choughs, all within around 2 metres of me, very approachable. One of them was ringed, I rang Kenfig nature reserve to report to the recorder and it appears they have been at the sight on and off around a year and half, I hadn't realised.
Of course this was the one day I took my bins but left my camera at home, cannot believe it !! Still they are only the second sighting I've had of choughs and it make my somewhat catastrophic 2009 feel as tho things are looking up. Went down to the same spot next day and stayed freezing for hours, however, not a red bill in site. On a 3 day working week for few weeks so mission is to get them on slr and post them here. Nice to be back xx

Oo Choughs! And at Kenfig no less, that isn't too far from me. Were they near the lake or further out? I'll have to convince my husband that we need to take a trip there Last time I saw a chough was near Ogmore-by-sea and Southerndown Beach in the Vale of Glamorgan, which was a shock to me as I didn't think they'd be around there at all. Never thought to report it...oops.
Good luck with your mission, hope you get them on camera!

| | | Re: choughed Welcome back, Lily, I hope things are looking up for you.
I think that was great thread title, I'm sure I'd be "dead choughed" if I ever saw a chough in this country. I've only seen them when I've been on holiday abroad. It must have been a real thrill for you to see them - shame about not having your camera. |
