We've always suspected there are peregrines on our land, but the sightings I'd had before were often fleeting and the first "peregrine" I saw I am almost certain was just a pigeon that my then-11-year old mind got hyped up about

But the other day, as I was standing around at the top of one of the fields, I saw a bird fly up from behind a slope. It had something in its claws (couldn't tell exactly what) but the light was excellent. I could clearly see the markings on the bird's wings, and the white cheeks and wings gave it away completely.
I think there are hobbies round here, as a bird of prey with wings like a large swift flew over a gate a few years ago pursuing a goldfinch, but went in another direction when it saw me. However, they'll still be in Africa at this time of year.
There was a falconer at the local summer fair who said there were a few pairs of peregrines round here, so I've managed to see one. A very happy bunny!
