both female goosander Dale.
The female is similar to RB Merganser, but the brown neck colouration is sharply cut off in goosanders - try the RSPB website for some good pics of male, such a gorgeous bird and quite different from the female.

I agree with diggleken, two female Goosanders. Lovely birds which I very rarely see.

Hi Dale,The River Severn in the Trimpley area is a good place to see both male and female Goosander at this time of year,seen several birds there a week or so ago. |

Hi
if any one in Northumberland wants good views of Goosanders theres a male and two females on the river Wansbeck at Morpeth at the momment- along with the Mallards!- they are eating white bread too!
