Bully Blue Tit

Are Blue Tits known to intimidate other birds at times or have I just got a particularly brutish tit in my tree? He's forever chasing the Greats away from the feeders even though there are plenty to go around, and has even managed to scare off a Starling or two from the suet cake.

Yes sadly Blue Tits are terrible bullies and chase away all my Great Tits too which is a shame as they seem quite interested in one of my boxes at the mo.....till the Blues arrive!!!

Thank you for the info Ruth. I did a bit of research on the matter but didn't find much. I was thinking of putting a niger seed feeder up in a different part of the garden as I've seen a few goldfinches...it may help stop those pesky blues scaring off anything that comes within 2 feet of the other feeders.

I find that the Great Tits chase off the Blue Tits and the Blue Tits chase off the Coal Tits! A hierarchy thing I believe! They all get to the food in any event! I have never witnessed a Blue Tit bully any other bird than it's own kind! That must be some tough Blue Tit you have in your garden Bunny if it is also chasing Starlings away!
