| | | Quite an afternoon! Went for a walk last Saturday at a local spot renowned for its wildlife and in particular Birds (Langness it's called), and it didn't disappoint. It began well when I saw a Stonechat as I got out of the car. Then in the distance I could see a Kestrel hovering, managed to get quite close and get this shot:
Then I heard the unmistakable voice of the Raven, 3 in total flew right overhead, with their powerful wings making such a loud noise as they passed. Next up was Rock Pipit, then Shelduck, Eider, Teal, Widgeon, Mallard. As I approached the water, there was a large flock of Oystercatcher mixed with 50+ Curlew. In the sea were Cormorants and Shags diving for food, with some sat up on the rocks above. As I headed back towards the car, a large flock of Chough passed by:
Then as I was taking these shots:
Something else caught my eye, not birds I know but I thought I'd share it with you, it was amusing watching them roll around on the rocks!
Then to top it off, when I got back to the car a flock of Bar Tailed Godwits flew past heading for the waters edge.
All in all a very enjoyable afternoon!
Best wishes,
Matt. |

Very lucky here to have quite a large population of Choughs, it's quite common to see 25 or 30 swooping and diving overhead if you are in the right place. Quite frequently see (and hear!) them flying over the house too.
Best wishes,
