First visit to Brandon Marsh.

A visit to Warwickshire Wildlife trust, Brandon Marsh last Saturday was to be a first at this reserve for me. A gloriously sunny day set the scene perfectly as we wandered through the reserve with lakes, woodland and reedbeds galore! The usual waterbirds were in and around the lakes.The highlight of the day was a Bittern that flew across one of the smaller pools and in to the reedbeds giving great views of it! We had only been in the hide for a couple of minutes so were very fortunate! I managed a list of 34 species. Brandon Marsh has very good habitat for Dragon/Butterflies so further visits will be on the agenda in the coming months!

oooooh!! Brandon is my favourite reserve! only 30 minutes away from me

i'm going to put in some hide time and try and see the bittern

I can see why it is your favourite reserve, Adam! I enjoyed the walk around the reserve so much, as there are so many short paths and then a lovely view as you turned each corner! Almost like a secret garden!

We saw the Bittern from the Carlton Hide, it flew from the right to the reed beds on the left hand side of the hide.
