A Few From Keyhaven

Hi all

Just thought I'd share the lovely day I had yesterday down at good ol' Keyhaven. The weather was perfect - if a little too contrasty for bird photography (some people are never happy

!), but I scored a couple of 'firsts' for me

Went by water taxi down to Hurst Castle to have a bit of a wander, and managed to photograph this little beauty - a Rock Pipit (my first 'first'):

When I got back, I saw this little sweetie - a Pied Wagtail:

A fishing vessel had also just 'arrived' when I got back, and it was a total Gull Fest - I didn't know where to point the camera first

. I decided to just 'point, shoot and hope for the best'. Good plan, as I captured first this image of a Herring Gull:

And in the next shot, this Great Black-backed Gull had landed on the Herring Gull and nicked its food

(and I didn't see this until after I had downloaded the images):

Finally, another 'first' for me - I've not been able to get a half decent image of a Great Black-backed Gull until yesterday:

Thanks for sharing your lovely pics, Thea! Well done with your first Rock Pipit and the Pied Wagtail pic is super! Great Gull shots too! Always nice when you 'point, shoot and hope for the best' and get something unexpected!

Great pictures especially the action ones of the gulls. how did you get the wagtail to stop for one second? They always seem very active if not flitting from place to place, they are bobbing up and down.
