Aren't finches messy eaters

I have two slabs beneath my bird table, any dropped food land mostly on them and then are eaten by the ground feeders including my chickens! LOL I never have any mess to sweep up – but then I don’t have Goldfinches only Chaffinches and the occasional Greenfinch.

The woodies are the best hoovers in my garden, followed closely by the blackies and chaffies. I do agree that all the finches are messy eaters, and the starlings are no longer able to get to the fat balls here, I've put them in a cage so they can't get in!

I wish I had some birds doing clean-up on the ground, my goldies, greenfinches & siskins are SO messy - that the groundfeeders just can't keep up. We're going to have to get drastic with this now as it's a hideous mess

They're worth it though
