Chaffinch in need of a chiropodist?

We saw this chaffinch yesterday near St Ives and noticed the strange growth on its feet. It looked something like a fungus; but, fortunately, did not seem to hamper the bird at all.

Any ideas, please?

I could have googled this, I suppose, but I prefer to rely on WAB experts.

Looks like that disease that finches (in particular) pick up called bumblefoot.

I think this is wart papilloma, not bumblefoot, as it looks like warts!!

Bumblefoot is a bacterial infection that involves the sole of the foot,
Presents as shiny swollen lumps on the soles which may ulcerate.
caused by a Staph aureus.

We had a thread about this about 4 weeks back and I did a bit
of googling and reading about bird foot problems.

Chaffinch-what is this growth?
