Sadly though there are still too many incidents of raptor persecution around here for me to have any great confidence that it will happen quickly - for example big areas of heather moorland ideally suited for hen harriers are sadly lacking in them, nice wooded areas that should have buzzards don't. I think they will probably do well in the largely un-keepered lower ground but will struggle in higher areas where grouse shooting is still important.

They really should do well in the Dales, if they were left alone. I do see them fairly regularly around Barden however, so they are moving in slowly via Wharfedale.
