Mention of tame turnstones reminds me of one tip I forgot about. There are nearly always a group of purple sandpipers around the rocks just offshore of the main beach at Tre-Arddur Bay during the winter. Incidentally, Penrhos can be interesting (assuming no water activities) from now on and often attracts good numbers of little egrets and whimbrel.
