I have a few Goldfinches that regularly visit my feeding station, for all of the winter they have only ever fed on the niger seeds. If there are more birds than feeding ports there can be a bit of squabbling between them and a few sit to one side and wait.
For the last week or so, there has been one of the goldfinches that has taken a liking to the peanuts, he seems to prefer them, he turns up and feeds on the peanuts even when the niger feeder is not being used.
Is this unusual or is it normal to have them on the peanut feeders?
