Blackcap

Saw my first Blackcap in the garden today, was well chuffed. You dont usually see them in my area nevermind in the garden , so made my day after a bad start to it.
Some might not find it so exciting but ive not seen one before though i have heard it wuite often when ive been out and about, and might say they are a drab bird but i find them beautiful

All i need to see now is a Bullfinch in it, everyone else has seen it at least once from the house, but by the time I get to the window the little so and so has flown off

I haven't seen one yet this year, but a close friend of mine has had a pair in her garden for some time, dominating the feeders.

Nice birds,there has been a female dominating the feeders here for a good
while, recently joined by a male.

Male Blackcap around my garden for the last three weeks or so now. Getting a bit domineering on the back garden table of late, giving the chaffies the push! No sign of a mate though.

You have good reason to be chuffed, Ogwen! The Blackcap is a delightful bird to see, especially so in your own garden! I have had a female visiting on and off for a while now! I had the male and female originally but just the female visits now!

Ahh glad to see Im not the only one who thinks they're cool

This one was waiting for the starlings to finish on the bird table, and was hopping around the branches on the bush.... wish i had a good camera to take a pic with lol.

Lucky you pippaonly seen a bulfinch once on thurstaston common.

I too had my very first visit from a blackcap at the weekend, have not seen it since, but i've been at work so it might still be about hopefully.

I've had my first blackcaps this year too, a male and 2 females. I'm just waiting to see if they're migrants and leave in the spring but I hope not. I get a thrill every morning when I see that they are still here. Everyone seems to be talking about them being quite dominant but mine seem to mind their own business and just get on with feeding regardless of what else is around
