| | | ID confirmation please! I had a few spare minutes waiting to catch the Ferry home today so had a wander North of Morecambe. Saw various waders (Oystercatchers, Dunlin, Lapwing, Redshank) plus Wigeon, Eider; which was nice. However not so sure on this one... I think it may be a Bar Tailed Godwit - can anyone confirm?
Best wishes,
Matt. |

| | | Re: ID confirmation please! I stand corrected...! It's the first time I've seen a Godwit of any variety and now I've taken a more in depth look I can see the difference. And to be honest it is fairly obvious!!
Thanks Bob! |

John | I agree with black-tailed godwit - often the most likely of the two species to be seen along the Lancashire coast. Having said that, bar-tailed godwits are a reasonably common visitor to The Spinnies just outside Bangor in North Wales and they have appeared at inland waters in Greater Manchester too. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
