| | | Herons catch of the day Not the best quality, it was to far away, I've had to over-crop it.
It struggled for about an hour trying to swallow it hole It eventually flew off, fish in mouth, after being mobbed by Gulls so I don't know the outcome
I was wondering, are Herons capable of breaking down a catch into bite size chunks. Something I haven't thought about till now.

| | | Re: Herons catch of the day Well caught Ian. I've only ever seen Heron swallow their prey whole. The sight I'd like to see is a Heron catch and eat a rat. They're supposed to, but I just can't imagine it! |

| | | Re: Herons catch of the day That is some catch and will take some swallowing, looks like a Roach or Rudd to me. I've seen Herons catch and swallow eels, that is always entertaining to watch. |

I know what your saying about it being entertaining, I was cursing the Gulls that mobbed it.
