| | | birds hitting window Hi all , am a new member.
I have a bird table close to the front of the house, every now and again birds are spooked by traffic noise and strike the window.
As the birds do not build up much momentum, No fatalities, just stunned birds.
Instead of stickers on the window to break up any reflections, I was thinking of putting a window feeder there instead, do you think I may be making things worse?:
Thanks Jane |

| | | Re: birds hitting window Hi and welcome to WAB, I've never been keen on window feeders, I've always worried that they will cause more window strikes, so I'd be interested in other opinions as well.
I get occasional window strikes as well, and as there are quite a few cats locally, I put any stunned birds that can't fly away, into a small cardboard box and bring it inside for 30 minutes or so.
Then I release the bird, or release it earlier if it starts moving about inside the box. Very rarely it needs longer than the 30 minutes, but I keep trying every 15 minutes or so, until the bird can fly away. I make sure the box has a few airholes in it as well. |

| | | Re: birds hitting window Thanks for the welcome Earthdragon.
Have to admit I tend to leave the birds where they land for fear of scaring them too much. But I do tend to keep a watchful eye on them. Luckily no cats in the garden during the day and I keep the dog away too.
Had a blue tit cling to the wall for about 40 mins once, but your right most have recovered within 30 mins.
By the way I know this is WABritain, does it matter that I'm not in the Uk at present?
