| | | Re: Cuckoo in February! I tried a little experiment with my mobi, I stood in the garden to record the two Woodpeckers drumming to each other. When I played it back I also heard this really odd call a bit like a clock but as I was concentrating on the Woodpeckers I didn't notice the other birds. I bluetoothed it to my pc but can't find it now |

| | | Re: Cuckoo in February! Has anyone else heard cuckoo's this year? I heared one last week (January) and thought I must be hearing things, being so early in the year, but today I heard it again!! And before anyone asks if I was confusing it with collared doves, no, it was definitely the call of the cuckoo.
Has the mild weather confused them? I must admit it was rather on the cold side here this morning (-5.5) but as it's now 13.55, it has warmed up a bit with the sun. |

Collared Dove, an imitation by a Starling, or human generated sounds are infinitely more likely I'm afraid.

| | | Re: Cuckoo in February! It has nothing to do with the weather fooling them as they have to be here to be fooled and as RoyW has said, you are a long way off seeing the first arrivals in this country.

| | | Re: Cuckoo in February! A cuckoo has just arrived in Sharpthorne, West Sussex. My neighbour heard it on 20/03/2012 and I heard it today 21/03.
This is much earlier than in previous years in this area. |
