Injured Starling.

This bird has been coming to our feeders recently.
it appears to have lost an eye, plus has other head or at least feather damage.
The other eye is OK and it manages to feed and fly perfectly well.







I wonder what caused it? A failed Sparrowhawk attack? There is a female Sparrowhawk around here. Or is it some kind of rampant infection?

Looks like a close encounter with a sparrowhawk to me..They go for the head its a wonder it didn't have puncture wounds to the body though..

Looks like its been in some sort of collision, It will have to keep its good eye open if there is a sparrow hawk near by

yeah it could well have been a sparrowhawk

we had a chaffinch with an injured wing that was around for ages and we gave it treats
