| | | House Sparrows I have noticed sparrows in my garden gathering up dry bits of vegetation of the last few days - any idea's what this could be for??? Isnt it a bit early to be nest building????
Cheers

| | | Re: House Sparrows Well I've plenty of Sparrows in my garden but I haven't seen them gathering anything except seed from the feeders.
Would have thought it a bit early for nesting but then again I'm no expert. Possibly using it as a sort of dry bedding material under the roof eaves. Again only a suggestion.

| | | Re: House Sparrows I've had a male House Sparrow sitting on top of "his" Sparrow terrace (which is high up under the gutter down the side of the house and has been used by 2 pairs for the last 3 years) trying to attract the attention of a female by cheeping incessantly for the the past week!!!!! |

Last year , a pair nested on the neighbor's roof, but the first female disappeared (Probably the local sparrowhawk) and the male used to perch in the same place and constantly chirp from dawn to dusk. I think he even stopped feeding!
Tangaroa, I'm not sure why they are collecting material, it does seem early for nesting |
