Looks as though it was a memorable day, however can i ask if you cut the bird onto another background. There is a strong cast around the bird, or is it just the way it is catching the sun?
Did you see it from a hide, if so which one.

Roy | Roy that is the original background, it is as you say the way the sun has caught the bird.
This was taken from the view point on the 70 Acre lake. The Bittern took off from the reed beds outside the Bittern Hide and flew to the left in front of the view point |

Wow, that seals it then definetly in the great shot bracket.
I have been to the reserve a couple of times and although there are a lot of people it looks a good reserve. The only Bitterns I have seen have been at Minsmere and at a distance.
