Finally got an image of a Bittern

Went to Fishers Green, Lea Valley Park today. Not expecting to even see a Bittern let alone get an image.

Wow! That is great, there seem to be more Bitterns about this year than ever before, good to hear they are flourishing.

Looks as though it was a memorable day, however can i ask if you cut the bird onto another background. There is a strong cast around the bird, or is it just the way it is catching the sun?

Did you see it from a hide, if so which one.

Roy that is the original background, it is as you say the way the sun has caught the bird.

This was taken from the view point on the 70 Acre lake. The Bittern took off from the reed beds outside the Bittern Hide and flew to the left in front of the view point

Wow, that seals it then definetly in the great shot bracket.

I have been to the reserve a couple of times and although there are a lot of people it looks a good reserve. The only Bitterns I have seen have been at Minsmere and at a distance.

A lovely image and a difficult bird to spot at the best of times

Good flight image. Minsmere is the place I most often see this species in flight- during a day's visit, often see at least a couple flying around.
