| | | duck id :) I suspect he's just a mallard cross, but thought I'd ask. He was rather small, and very neat and compact - very pretty and dainty little chap  He was extremely glossy and shiny... these pics do him no justice! Seen on the larger lake at Roundhay Park in Leeds
(oh behind him in the second pic is a tufted duck - he was a bit smaller, and much more slender  )

| | | Re: duck id :) yes, it's a domestic Mallard (ie. as opposed to the genuine wild Mallards) of which there is now are fairly substantial feral population at large in the UK which come in all sorts of shape, size and colour!
Some, especially the darker type as yours is, are very attractive looking ducks, and greatly under appreciated from an aesthetic point of view imo, usually by listing purists |
