bird id please

can anyone id these ducks seen on the aberdeenshire river don at the weekend.

I think they are very beautiful domestic ducks of mallard descent. As they are identical I wonder if they might be pedigree.

I think they are hybrid Mallards or what is sometimes known as "Manky Mallard". Mallard ducks with mixed up genes.

As the proportions and plumage look a little strange, I'd say these may be (domestic) Mallard x Muscovy hybrids, very interesting looking birds!

What a stunning pair! I wonder whether they have been cross bred intentionally in captivity and escaped. Mallard x Muscovy or Mallard x Swedish perhaps or bits of both, but no way, no how, can they be called ''Manky''!!!!

Totally agree with the woodpeckers - the use of that word should be banned!

I jokingly refer to such birds as Dodgy ducks (scientific name: Anas dubious).

These two do look quite stunning, and I too wondered if there was some Muscovy in their ancestry.

Yep, more than justmallard. I often thought 'manky' meant a little bit more than just... well, the less-than-complimentary use of the word!! I'll drop its usage.
