I think having our very first goldcrest to the garden feeders, making it the 21st bird species to visit our gardens since we moved to this house last winter. |

Either the Bittern at Slimbridge which skated across a frozen lake then paraded just 20 yards in front of us for over an hour.
or
2 male Hen Harriers hunting in high winds on moorland in Staffordshire.
Also got my first Hawfinch so it's been a brilliant 2009 so far. |

I've seen just under 90 species around London since the start of the year including Smew, Goosander, Little Egret, Med Gull, Tawny + Little Owls, Lesser-spotted Woodpecker, Bearded Tit, Bullfinch, Lesser Redpoll + Dartford Warbler amongst my highlights; yet haven't caught up with Coal Tit yet, which should be an easy one!  |
