| | | Can anyone confirm id? Took this shot today, I think it's a Willow warbler, but I'm not sure. Anyone confirm or otherwise?
Thanks! |

| | | Re: Can anyone confirm id? just looked in my RSPB pocket birds and it looks like a Chiff Chaff and A Willow Warbler.According to book it says it is almost impossible to distinguish them .Need to hear the song or in the Chiff Chaffs case watching to see if the tail dips down
No idea really just looking at the books hehe |

i think there was a thread on here about the difference? Chiff Chafs have dirty knees? ( black legs) or something like that? i may of course have it wrong way round |

| | | Re: Can anyone confirm id? Can't offer much help Graham, it's very difficult to ID these. At first glance I thought juvenile Reed Warbler, then I changed my mind to Willow or Chiffchaff. Sorry still can't decide but it's a nice shot whatever it may be.

| | | Re: Can anyone confirm id? One we can definitely rule out is Chiffchaff. It's call was nothing like that.
That's why I was suspecting Willow warbler, although the markings around the eye aren't very pronounced. There were dozens of Willow Warblers around the area this was taken a month or so ago. |

One of the hardest species to id, even with such a beautiful shot! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
