| | Slimbridge Mystery Birds - ID Request Just wondering is anyone can help me out with an ID on these little chaps, please? I saw them at Slimbridge in May this year. They are the cutest little things and make adorable little sounds too.
I doubt that they're UK Natives as I can't find them in my books. I even emailed Slimbridge attaching this photo but sadly they never replied.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

It turns out they are Red-billed Whistling Ducks. After your tip I looked it up on Wikipedia and there they were! Would you believe it the (full sized) photo supplied even says "Red-billed Whistling Duck at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre, Gloucestershire, England." Presumably a very close relative of the Black-bellied or the same thing as it was in the Black-bellied Whistling Duck entry.
They definitely are dapper little things - utterly adorable.
Thanks again I can go label my photo correctly now |

I think black-bellied and red billed are possibly one in the same.
Nice looking duck though. |

Yes it looks as if they are one and the same. They have both black bellies and red (well pink) bills. All just designed to confuse me |
