I'm assuming you're locking them in overnight.
Are they're nestboxes still up?, if so make sure their stuffed with plenty of straw etc.
do you have a heater in there, if not it would definately be worth installing one in this weather.
what do you keep by the way? |

| | | Re: Cold Weather Hi and welcome tweetiepie.
Got to ensure it is free from drafts and they really need somewhere reasonable to roost overnight as well as during the day.My friends aviary had an outdoor part for summer and flying but the rest was totally enclosed with large windows for natural light and another large enclosed area for roosting.A very large shed really divided into 2 parts and adjoining the aviary itself. She even had some kind of heater that was used only in really bad weather and kept very low.
Many years ago our aviary for rescued birds (The Crow Family)was made of chicken wire around 20 ft by 12 ft which my father attached to our cement garage. He built deep roosting areas into the two large garage windows and that worked really well.We didn't lose any birds due to cold weather.
Hope that helps. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
