| | | Re: Big problem with a Mistle Thrush Of course, the easiest solutionis to just let them all get on with it and sort it out themselves.

| | | Re: Big problem with a Mistle Thrush Yeah that would be the easy option Adam ... well i got a picture of him today , he seems to come in very fast ... then just before the birds he's after ... bounce's off the ground and fly up to grab them , well today never went to good , hoping for a better result tomorrow ... wishfull thinking
Ps sorry about the picture , its really bad ... best i could get . |

| | | Re: Big problem with a Mistle Thrush Our garden is rather new, and for a while a desert. the birds have now started to arrive and along with them two Mistle Thrushes, which were nice to see initially but now we also have the same problem with the Mistle Thrushes bullying just about evey other bird apart from our solitary Wagtail.
Our feeders etc are spread all around the garden, the Mistlethrish is just one of those agressive birds that likes to chase others off. We now just let them come down for a while and then chase them off for a while each day as the smaller birds and blackbirds etc come back down almost immediatly where as it takes the Mistlethrushes a couple of hours to come back most times.
Not the best pic but...
The Mistle Thrush can be a right pain though, today being an example where we had our first Blackcap in the garden (the garden and house are only 6 months old) and the Mistle Thrush starts bullying it.
Pretty poor pic but...

| | | Re: Big problem with a Mistle Thrush Well i took Picidae advice ( see above post ) by putting some food at the front of the house aswell as keeping the back garden stocked up , this is day two of doing this ... the Mistle Thrush is now confused because he's found the food in the front garden and is trying to protect both front and back at the same time , this is giving the other birds time to get thier fill of some food at both front and back , i'm hoping he settles down and just picks one area to defend , thats till the Spring comes ... i read that the MT settles down at this time . |

| | | Re: Big problem with a Mistle Thrush I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for the poor bird - he'll wear himself out at this rate. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
