Today it was a trip to the bakers, via the ponds, river and canal.
Remembered my bins this time too, but at -7C the focus wheel was very stiff, perhaps should use 10W 50 next time to oil it.
Peculiar behaviour from a pair of Dippers - stock still, not even bobbing, on rocks in the river - never seen that before - they always move in some way.
Anybody else seen Dippers not move like that?
Mind you the mallard were also immobile, doing their 'we are only rocks ' impression, with beaks tucked well away.
Heron statuesque too in the river.
All keeping warmth in and conserving energy till the sun was higher.
The single Brambling was now a small flock and the femal goosander had moved away from the frozen lake to the river, so must be fishing and feeding OK there.
A whole load of mixed tits too in the higher sunny branches, all of them today with the chaffinch and still a couple of Bullfinch.
Bread frozen when I got home.
Another happy day!
