Being new to seeing birds (ex-townie). Could someone identify this particular bird that I photographed from my rear window. Thanks.

from my limited experience could be a Sparrowhawk. Could an experienced twitcher please confirm or deny?!

Yes it definately IS a sparrowhawk. Lovely mature female!!!!! We have a pair that hunt in our garden.
