| | love em or hate em I was just on a thread where starlings had not been seen in the garden for over 30 years.
Just wondering as I had not seen them in my garden for 3 or 4 years but this summer they returned.
Also noticed that the populations at my two large supermarkets went up noticably his summer.
Concidering the last two summer starlings by me seem to have incrased. As anyone else notived this?

| | | Re: love em or hate em I normally see quite a few in my garden in the summer, particularly parents bringing fledglings to feed. I don't see so many in the winter usually, but this winter I've had 20+ most days, sometimes more.
Personally, I like Starlings, they are sometimes referred to as 'Squablings' in our house because they are always arguing over food or water to bathe in. They are really full of character and I could watch their antics for hours. It makes washing-up a pleasure, the window above my kitchen sink overlooks the feeders and bird tables.
Someone near me must be ringing the Starlings as in the summer I often see very young fledglings with rings on. |

| | | Re: love em or hate em See some fair sized flocks in the vicinity, but they hardly ever come to our feeders. Shame because I rather like them, even if they can be greedy bullies.
