| | | Re: Kites. re Kites in Hampshire - definitely got a pair of red kites in the Overton/Oakley area west of Basingstoke. Not sure of this pair moved south from the Chilterns or are part of a reintroduction scheme, possibly from the Hawk Conservancy at Weyhill. |

| | | Re: Kites. I've mentioned in another kite thread that kites can be a mixed blessing if you live in Wattlington, where they constantly circle the rooftops. A local told me that they make an awful mess of cars, patios and windows!

Jim | I think I'd be quite happy to have that problem! I love Red Kites, and to have them flying low overhead all the time, as they do in Watlington, would be magic! I think I'd put up with the mess.
I've mentioned on other threads that the Red Kites have now spread to this part of the Chilterns, about 30 miles north-east of where they were re-introduced. I do see them here, but only occasionally (every few weeks), and have seen them pass low over the garden a couple of times. To have them around all the time would be wonderful, I think it would add immeasurably to the qualty of life here, despite the possible mess. |
