Where did you see the White Fronts Sleipner? We were out touring Lancs goosey places today, but we didn't come across these. 
We did see oodles of Pink Feet though wherever we went, plus Corn Buntings at Eagland Hill and Twite and two corking Med' Gulls at Heysham.

Whitefronts and all the rest were taken at Martin Mere and have been there for about a week, check the website before you go

Nice capture Frank,
I do like to see the whitefronts, there are a small number on my patch at the moment, I counted a skein of 230 yesterday.
I love to listen to the sounds they make, such a musical call compared to other geese.
Ten or more years ago we used to get between 4000 - 5000 wintering on the marsh but 400 now is a lot.
One of my fondest memories is of sitting on the sea wall after dark, a full moon, white fluffy clouds and thousands of Whitefonts flying over just above my head. The sight and the sounds of these geese against the moonlit landscape is something that will stay with me till my dying day. |
