| | | Once Bittern, Twice Shy Haaay c'mon, i really make an effort with these thread titles, the least you could do is have a look. As the title suggests, i was at Leighton Moss today in search of the elusive bird, now the first law of photography in my book is "always be prepared" so as i am sitting in the public hide with my camera firmly esconsed in it's bag a cry goes up "there's one, flying straight towards us", cue 15 seconds of a flying Bittern passing less than five feet in front of the hide and me ripping of gloves and velcro from the camera bag, twisting out the zoom taking of the lens cap and finally turning on the camera as said bird disappears out of sight.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS REMEMBER RULE ONE
Anyhoo, that's the moral of this tale, and there will be more rules to follow later in this series . But alls well that ends weell and i did get my pictures
All of these pictures but especially the second one, shows just how difficult it is to spot these blighters

| | | Re: Once Bittern, Twice Shy Hi Frank
Great shots.
I was at LM today as well but I went to the wrong hide (The one beyond the Public Hide). By the time I got back to the Public Hide there were no Bitterns there
Best shot I got was this one:-

| | | Re: Once Bittern, Twice Shy I love Leighton Moss, though I am now at the far side of the country. The light in those photos is so evocative, the bird is so special. Thanks for putting those up. |
