| | | Kingfisher Diary (with photos) poll As many WAB members know, for the 18 months or so from March 2007 through to September 2008 I ran my 'Kingfisher Diary (with photos)' forum thread in which I gave a photo-diary based account of my observations of the breeding activities of our local nesting Kingfishers - Kingfisher Diary (with photos)
The diary has always been very well received and with more than 16,500 views and 290+ posts has proved to be one of WAB's most popular threads.
I have recently received my new Schedule 1 Licence for 2009 and I certainly intend to continue to monitor, study and photograph these birds. However, having kept the Diary through two breeding seasons and reported on the raising and fledging of three broods of young, I doubt that there's much new information about the breeding habits of these birds that I can usefully add to it and I'm therefore wondering whether or not to continue with the Diary for a 3rd year.
In the circumstances, I've decided to leave the decision to WAB's members by adding a poll to this thread. Please vote as you see fit - the decision is yours!
Jeff

| | | Re: Kingfisher Diary (with photos) poll Well I've voted yes Jeff and here's a few reasons why
There are a lot of new members who may not have bothered looking at the previous diaries, maybe having to search for them as they are not showing in the recent threads etc, who I'm sure would look at a new diary.
Another reason because you post the best Kingfisher shots with the diaries I have seen and I want to see more.
A third reason if you need one, you are the most knowledgeable guy I know on Kingfishers and their behavour.
Do you need any more reasons because I could go on for quite a while on this.

| | | Re: Kingfisher Diary (with photos) poll Keep the diary going Jeff. Roger gives more than enough reasons why.
I always thought that Kingfishers migrated to the coast in winter, especially up here in Scotland. I just saw one today flying upstream about 20 yards from my house. Do they occasionally overwinter inland or could it be a sign of a mild winter??

| I'm a new member jeff, so haven't seen your previous diaries but would certainly be interested to see a new one, so it's a yes from me too. |

| | | Re: Kingfisher Diary (with photos) poll Jeff,
Your dairy of the Kingfishers is fantastic, a 3rd would be a different set of circumstances with photo's that differ from previous years, so ...... PLEASE if you can find the time it would be great to keep it running..
Many Thanks
Mick..

| | | Re: Kingfisher Diary (with photos) poll Seems unanimous to me- it's a real treat to see the photos + to learn of their behaviour.
I suspect it's probably the most popular thread on WAB! |
