I went around Attenborough nature Reserve yesterday, same thing, hardly any ducks on the smaller ponds, frozen thick!
beautiful photos though
I was so busy trying to get the winter sunshine out of my eyes, I'd have never had the patience to take such nice snaps!
I missed the bittern by 2 mins as well.

Today the gulls on one of my local lakes were standing on the remaining 1m strip of ice where the sun didnt quite reach, rather than floating on the rest of the lake - despite the fact every dog walker was scaring them off! | | | |
