Do most water fowl sleep on land? Slightly concerned about what happens regarding the winter element and the birds I have come to love over these last 5 months.
I'm sure this is a truely stupid question but hey I'm happy to look daft if I can walk away with more knowledge. |

But a lot of wildfowl tend to leave the safety of the open water at dusk and through night or early dawn to feed. Either on small ponds or grazing on types grass or on stubbles. So I guess they resting roosting on large waters through the day. I once, quite a few years back witnessed a freak fatal accident when a mute swan came in to a lake with patches that where frozzen its landing was heavy mistimed or misplaced whatever it was, the swan hit the ice, breaking it as she went along ice must have speared her as she was dead when she stopped.
