Someone recently mentioned peregrines over Skipton.
I have today seen 3 birds over Keighley (10 miles from Skipton) which I am 90% sure were peregrines.
Tail straight (i.e. not fanned) and appearing relatively short in contrast with long wings, bigger than kestrel or sparrowhawk, greyish on top but no detail visible in silhouette.
Soaring high most of the time, on the move but searching with frequent circling. A pair together, the third bird appearing to remain separated.
They called to each other, which according to my info is unusual. The call was not as high as a sparrowhawk, more of a 'quacking' tone to it.
To the best of my knowledge they have never been reported around here before.
